Bounou was selected for the tournament's best players following his outstanding performances in Al-Hilal's run to the quarterfinals. He made a total of 23 saves during the tournament, including 10 in our historic win over Manchester City.

After saving a penalty in our first match against Real Madrid, the Morocco international followed it up with clean sheet and man-of-the-match performance against Red Bull Salzburg, and another clean sheet against Pachuca. Then followed the incredible display against Manchester City, while he also made numerous stops in our quarterfinal defeat to Brazilian side Fluminense.
