This decade began with the inauguration of the Al-Hilal Academy in 1981, thanks to God and the tremendous efforts of His Highness Prince Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Kabeer, and with a significant contribution from Prince Abdullah bin Saad

Al-Hilal Club opened an academy to nurture, train, and refine footballing talents, making them a pillar of Al-Hilal Club and the Saudi national team players.

89 history

Work on the academy began in 1981, after training fields were prepared in the Al-Rahmaniyah neighborhood of Riyadh. The late, world-renowned coach, Brocic, was chosen as the technical supervisor of the Al-Hilal Academy, and he brought with him a number of coaches to assist in training the young players, including well-known Egyptian coach Taha Al-Toukhy.

Al-Hilal provided buses to transport those wishing to enroll in the academy from all neighborhoods of Riyadh and followed by recruiting talented players. The club expanded its operations, bringing in prominent figures in the coaching field, including coach Kubala, as well as Saudi coaches Abdulaziz Al-Awda and Mansour Al-Mansour.

The Al-Hilal academy produced a number of great stars in the history of Al-Hilal and Saudi football, including Youssef Al-Thunayan, Saad Mubarak, the Al-Temyat brothers Safouq and Mohammed, Khaled Al-Timawi, Faisal Abu Thnein, Youssef Jazaa, and Fahad Al-Ashawi. Perhaps the most important factor that distinguished Al-Hilal and set it apart from its rivals was its academy, which served as the starting point for many stars.

In the first half of the decade, Al-Hilal dominated the King's Cup, winning it three times and then again in the final year of the decade.

The story of its dominance in the Saudi League also began, with the team winning three league titles in the second half of the 1980s. It also won the Saudi Federation Cup twice.

Al-Hilal's success wasn't limited to the domestic level; it extended beyond Saudi borders, winning the Gulf Clubs Championship, its first international title. The color blue became a symbol of pride, and winning became part of everyday life. This decade taught generations that success is not a matter of chance, but a responsibility.
