The first team also won the Saudi Handball Federation Cup in 1980. Handball was discontinued at the club in the mid-1980s, but was reinstated a few years later, then the team subsequently won the First Division League in 1997 and 2003, in addition to the Kingdom's Regional Champions Championship for the youth grade in 2002 and 2005.

Among the most prominent Saudi players who represented Al-Hilal are: Dawood Al-Abdulkarim, Fahad Al-Dokhi, Abdulrahman Al-Zaid, Abdullah Khalaf, Saleh Al-Tariqi, Abdulaziz Al-Muhaisin, and Attallah Ibrahim Attallah.

Al-Hilal has also been represented by a number of Egyptian stars, including: Mamdouh Hashem, Mohamed Al-Alfi, and Mustafa Al-Ahmar.
