Mathieu, 21, progressed through the youth teams of French club Olympique Lyonnais until representing the first team.
Internationally, Mathieu has represented France at U18, U19, and U20 levels.
The new goalkeeper is expected to join the team's training within the upcoming days in preparation for the resumption of the season.
